This is the age of industrialization. Everything of our daily necessities these days is an industrial product. The basic ingredient may be natural, but the production of the basic ingredients too is influenced by industry for the simple reason to grow more. This overall industrialization or mechanization has robbed us of tenderness and gracefulness that distinguished man from other creatures.

Artificiality and hardness are now the prime factors. Entire civilization now opts for the rough and tough. Humanity is almost gone. Civilization minus humanity is like a body without soul. Yes, we have since been heading for a dead civilization. I wanted to reflect this in my creation. I started sculpting what I visualize. Vegetables, parts of human body, animals, etc. constitute my subject. My medium is brass nut.

The size is mainly 5mm by 5mm. First I make the form of clay. Then I make a molding of Plaster of Paris over it. Then I detach the mold and arrange the nuts at the inside wall of the mold and join them by means of gas wielding. The structure comes into shape. After MVA I made so many researches at my own. I toyed with so many ideas to express my original thinking and finally I settled on this. But this is just the beginning. I want to sculpt things, say a gourd for example, 5 to 6 times larger than life size, and want to see what message it gives, what impact it creates in my own mind and others’ as well. I want to see what such a creation itself wants to say. The artist Pintu Sikder exhibited a sculpture exhibition at Shridharani Gallery, Triveni Kala Sangam
